Ten Ways to Pay for InnerHaven, and What Each One Actually Buys

Every comparison in this series so far has put InnerHaven next to something else. This one turns inward, because there is a comparison nobody has written and it is the one a decided reader actually needs: InnerHaven against its own menu. Count them and there are ten distinct ways to hand us money — two subscriptions, two day passes, four kinds of top-up, and a few $1 buttons that only appear mid-conversation — and the homepage shows three of them. The individual numbers are published in the feature guides; what has never existed is the single map: which option wins in which situation, which credits get spent before which, and the honest math per message. Here is the whole board.

Committing: The Two Subscriptions

The anchor purchases, from the live pricing cards: Starter at $15/month ($10 your first month, or $150/year) and Unlimited at $25/month ($20 your first month, or $250/year). Starter buys 25 messages a day, 6 of the 9 roles including the romantic ones, up to 5 custom companions, and persistent long-term memory. Unlimited buys 100 a day, all 9 roles, and up to 50 custom companions. The first-month discount is worth understanding precisely: it applies once per tier you move up to, and only on monthly checkout — your first month of Starter and, later, your first month of Unlimited each qualify, but returning to a tier you already held does not restart it. The full head-to-head between the plans is its own guide; this article is about everything around them.

Renting: The Two Day Passes

The “Not Ready to Commit?” section of the homepage sells 24 hours of a higher tier as a one-time purchase: the Starter Day Pass at $4 (all 6 Starter roles, 25 messages for the day, up to 5 custom companions) and the Unlimited Day Pass at $8 (all 9 roles, 100 messages, up to 50 companions). For one day, your account simply is that tier — role access, the daily message allowance, and the custom-companion cap all follow the pass.

Three pieces of fine print, all real. First, a pass never stacks and never points down: you can't buy a second pass while one is active, and you can't buy a pass at or below the tier you already subscribe to — a Starter subscriber's only pass is the $8 one. Second, what you build during the pass outlives it, but locks: companions you create while lifted stay on your account when the 24 hours end, but the ones above your real tier's limits lock until you upgrade or delete down. Treat the pass as a showroom, not a loophole. Third, a pass does not switch on overage billing — that stays a subscriber-only setting, which matters in the spend-order section below.

Stocking Up: The Four Top-Ups

Four purchases add a balance to your account rather than changing your tier. From the live tiers API and the dashboard's own labels:

The one rule that surprises people: pack messages are spent last. Your free daily allowance always burns first; pack credits are only touched after today's included messages run out. A pack is a reservoir behind the dam, not a faster pipe — and it never raises the daily cap itself. If what you want is more per day, every day, that is what the subscriptions are; a pack buys overflow for the occasional long night.

In the Moment: The $1–$4 Buttons

Four purchases never appear on any pricing page — they surface inside a conversation, at the exact moment they're relevant, which is why almost nobody has seen all of them:

And one non-checkout footnote to complete the board: paid subscribers can enable overage billing at $0.02 per message in the dashboard — off by default, subscription tiers only, and (see above) not unlocked by a day pass.

The Honest Math, Per Message

OptionCost per messageThe catch
Unlimited plan (all 100/day used, 30 days)~$0.008Cheapest on the whole board — if you actually talk daily
Starter plan (all 25/day used, 30 days)~$0.020Same caveat, smaller commitment
Overage$0.02Subscribers only, opt-in; ties Starter's baseline
Message packs$0.028–$0.030Spent last; 365-day expiry
Instant Refresh (Unlimited)$0.04Once per day
Keep Going~$0.067One companion; spent first
Unlimited Day Pass$0.08 if you use all 100Also buys roles + companion slots for the day
Instant Refresh (Starter)$0.08Once per day
Starter Day Pass$0.16 if you use all 25Ditto, smaller
Preview continuation$0.20Max twice per companion, by design

The pattern worth saying out loud: no top-up beats the subscriptions' own baseline. Unlimited's included messages are less than half the price of the cheapest add-on, and overage — the cheapest incremental option — merely ties Starter's baseline. The add-ons are priced as bridges, not destinations. If you find yourself buying the same bridge every week, the math has already voted for the next tier.

When Each One Wins

You talk most days

Subscribe, and pick the tier by your real daily volume. The first-month discount makes the trial month cheap, and the annual price knocks off about two months. Everything else on this page is more expensive per message than your included allowance.

You're curious about the next tier

The day pass is the showroom: $4 or $8 buys the whole tier for 24 hours — roles, allowance, companion slots. Build something during the pass knowing it locks (not vanishes) when the day ends. If the day was great, the subscription's first-month price is waiting.

Your plan fits, except on the long nights

A message pack (or a bundle, if you also do voice) is the right reservoir: account-wide, a year to use it, and it only spends after your included messages. Instant Refresh is the same idea for people who'd rather pay per incident than hold a balance.

It's 11:47 pm and the conversation matters

That's Keep Going's entire reason to exist: $1, 15 messages, this companion, right now. Just know the leftovers burn first tomorrow — it's a bridge for tonight, not a balance to manage.

The Fine Print That's Actually Fine

Refunds: the self-serve refund control in the dashboard covers subscriptions only — a 7-day window measured from your current billing period's start, with a 90-day cooldown between refunds. Day passes, packs, bundles, voice packs, and the $1 buttons have no self-serve refund path, which is worth knowing before an $8 impulse. Where the numbers live: the pricing cards on the homepage and the buttons in the product are always the authority — prices shown here were read from those surfaces on publication day. If this article and a live button ever disagree, believe the button, and tell us.

The One-Sentence Map

Subscriptions are the only prices built for every day; day passes rent a bigger tier for 24 hours; packs and bundles are reservoirs that spend last; Keep Going, Refresh, and their $1 siblings are bridges that exist for exactly one moment — and if you keep buying the same bridge, the tier above you is already cheaper.

Start Where It's Free

The Free tier is a real tier — daily messages, a custom companion, and every purchase on this map visible from the inside before you spend a dollar.
