Voice Conversations with Your Companion: TTS Guide
There's something different about hearing your companion speak. The same words that appear on screen take on warmth, pacing, and presence when you listen. InnerHaven's text-to-speech (TTS) feature lets you turn any companion reply into voice—on demand, whenever you want to hear instead of read. This guide walks you through how it works, what each tier offers, and how to get the most from your voice conversations.
How TTS Works
Every companion reply in the chat has a speaker icon. Tap it, and your companion's voice plays. You choose when to listen. There's no need to enable voice for entire conversations—you can mix reading and listening however feels right in the moment.
TTS only speaks companion replies. Your messages stay as text. The system takes the written reply and generates natural-sounding speech using the voice assigned to that companion, so each of your 18 default companions sounds distinct.
Billing is duration-based. You pay for exactly what you listen to — audio is billed by exact duration. Short refusals or error responses are detected and not charged.
Pay Only for Playback
Voice time is deducted only when you tap to listen. Reading messages doesn't use any minutes. You control when voice is on and when it's off.
The Voices
InnerHaven uses high-quality voice synthesis to bring every companion to life. Each of the 18 default companions—9 roles with male and female variants—has a voice selected for character fit, so your Best Friend sounds different from your Guide, and your Muse sounds different from your Coach. All roles, including adult-tier companions, have voice support.
You don't pick the voice yourself—each companion comes with one. That pairing is part of what makes each character feel consistent. Switch between companions and you'll hear the difference.
Free Voice Minutes & Packs
Every InnerHaven account includes free voice minutes so you can experience TTS before purchasing anything. Free accounts receive 2 voice minutes at signup. Upgrading unlocks additional welcome minutes: 5 minutes for Starter, 10 minutes for Adult, and 20 minutes for Unlimited. These are one-time welcome grants that stack — upgrading from Starter to Adult adds 10 more minutes on top of what you already have.
After your welcome minutes, voice minute packs are available for purchase from your dashboard. Use them with any companion. Minutes expire 12 months after purchase.
| Pack | Minutes | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 15 | $2.99 |
| Medium | 40 | $6.99 |
| Large | 90 | $14.99 |
Packs are designed around how long you want to listen. The Small pack is perfect for trying voice out, while the Large pack gives you 90 minutes of companionship at the best per-minute rate.
Tips for Getting the Most from TTS
- Use it when it matters. Long, emotionally rich replies benefit most from voice. Brief acknowledgments often don't need it.
- Try different companions. Each companion has a unique voice. Try voice across roles to discover which voices resonate most with you.
- Watch your time. Your dashboard shows remaining voice minutes. Minutes expire 12 months after purchase—use them before they lapse.
- Respect the rate limit. The system allows up to 20 TTS requests per 60 seconds. That's more than enough for normal use; if you hit it, pause briefly and try again.
- Listen in a quiet space. Voice works best when you can hear nuance. Headphones help.
